As WWOOF NZ continues to grow and adapt, we’re seeing changes in the way hosts and travellers connect. Social media and online platforms have made it easier than ever for people to find information and make connections — including through informal groups and communities outside the official WWOOF network.
While these groups can be useful for sharing information, they are not part of WWOOF NZ and do not provide the same support, verification and safeguards as the official organisation.
WWOOF NZ — here for the long term
WWOOF New Zealand has been connecting people with organic and sustainable hosts throughout New Zealand since 1974. As the official WWOOF organisation in New Zealand, we work to support both hosts and WWOOFers and to help create positive, safe and meaningful WWOOF experiences.
Groups, pages or websites using the WWOOF name are not necessarily affiliated with or authorised by WWOOF NZ.
When hosts and travellers connect through unofficial groups rather than joining and using WWOOF NZ, the official organisation is bypassed — along with the support and services that help keep the WWOOF NZ community running and developing.
As a locally run organisation, we rely on our members to support the network. This enables us to continue improving our website, technology and services for both hosts and WWOOFers.
Your membership helps provide:
- Continued development and upgrading of the WWOOF NZ website and platform
- Verified host and WWOOFer profiles
- Member support and assistance
- Help when concerns or disputes arise
- Safety and safeguarding support
- Reviews and feedback to help members make informed choices
- Information and guidance for successful WWOOF stays
