Hakea is a community of people that are passionate for the earth and sustainable living. Hakea is set as an permaculture farm where we apply all the techniques and knowledge to the land. We have food forests, gardens, we do beekeeping, have animals on the land. We are also involved in the wider community with our food forest and food resilience projects. We are certified permaculture teachers and been running workshops for years.  This is a place you can learn a lot of skills and enjoy nature.

Welcome to Hakea 

Hakea is a permaculture farm and small community set on 40 acres of lush land surrounded by a scenic reserve. Our home is a living example of sustainable living — where nature, people, and creativity come together.

Across the property, you’ll find thriving fruit groves with bananas, papayas, and hundreds of other fruit trees, both young and mature. We care for bees, sheep, and goats, and we’re always evolving through hands-on projects — from carpentry and plumbing to natural building and landscape design.

Life at Hakea is about working with the land, learning from it, and building in ways that make sense — practical, regenerative, and connected to nature.

We employ natural principles in our growing & building. We do home composting, companion planting, syntropic agroforestry, banana circle grey systems and so much more. All without chemicals !!
