General Information
You can add extended general information about your property
Let's give you an upfront and straightforward description of what we are looking for to ensure it works both ways: for you and for us.

The sun is coming out (well, most of the times) and activities on the farm are adding up. We need helping hand with tasks like: clearing paddocks & cleaning sheds, tackling barberry bushes, weeding, firewood, feeding calves, vege garden care etc. You assist us us 4.5 hours a day in exchange for good conversation, breakfast, lunch, dinner and accommodation. Two dogs as well as all sorts of livestock roam our property: Alpaca's, Cattle, Chicken, Turkeys, Pig(let)s, Ducks, Sheep and Bees.

We 'll try to make your stay pleasant and make you feel 'at home'; however, .... we are not a holiday park. If you are put off by some form of labour we might not be the right place for you. A certain level of fitness is required. We try to vary activities as much as possible.

It is best for you if you have your own way of transport (car) for we are not in the position to accompany you visiting the rest of the world outside our gates and as you probably know public transport is't always very helpful in NZ. The closest town is Takaka, a ten minute drive by car. We are environmental conscious and appreciate you to be the same. There is a non-smoking policy for house and property.

The kind of helper that fits best - so we noticed over the last years - is the one who is interested in more than free food and accommodation, someone with a friendly no-nonsense attitude, curious, enjoys a peaceful rural environment, is respectful to animals and hosts (random order), is enthusiastic, full of energy, does not lack a bit of humor, is willing to be part of NZ lifestyle (so no complaints when the food isn't the same as mum prepares at home:) and is aware that there is a way to communicate other than using a smartphone. We encourage initiative and appreciate DIY skills. A bedroom with double bed and clean bedding & towels is available if needed. Breakfast, lunch and diner (warm meal) is provided on working days. The good news is we consider you to be part of the household, the flip-side is that we expect you to assist in some minor household activities (e.g doing dishes). For additional wishes/requirements/snacks etc please make your own arrangements.

After the third day of your stay we will do a load of washing for you if asked for. (Unfortunately we have to regulate this for -believe it or not- we had 'helpers' spending their first day washing their stuff and then inform you after a nice meal and a night good sleep, that they 've decided to move on for whatever reason)

If you recognize yourself in the above description and we have not frightened you so far, please contact us: Marianne & Rene are looking forward to welcome you:) Note: if you really hate doing dishes I am sure we ll come up with a more suitable option :)
